Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
The rules are simple:
- Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
- Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
- Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
- Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
This week’s topic is Books From My Past Seasonal TBR Posts I STILL Haven’t Read. I’ve decided to look back at the list I put together in March for an earlier Top Ten Tuesday. I have to say I’m pretty pleased with how many of them I have actually read. It may have something to do with the fact I included a lot of books I needed to read for upcoming blog tours! Links from the titles will take you to my review or the book descrption on Goodreads.
Open Water by Caleb Azumah Nelson – Read and reviewed
Peach Blossom Spring by Melissa Fu – Read and reviewed
China Room by Sunjeev Sahota – Read and reviewed
Traitor in the Ice by K. J. Maitland – Read and reviewed
The Magician by Colm Tóibín – Yet to read
Still Life by Sarah Winman – Yet to read
The Fall by Rachael Blok – Read and reviewed
The Dark Flood by Deon Meyer – Read and reviewed
The Birdcage by Eve Chase – Read and reviewed
Fortune by Amanda Smyth – Read and reviewed
If you make TBR lists, how good are you at sticking to them?
I’m not good at sticking to TBR lists at all. I often can’t even stick to my “this week in books” schedule and my 20 Books of Challenge list is completely unrecognisable from what it looked like at the start.

I’m glad you read so many books from your seasonal TBRs? Honestly, I struggle with them. 🙂

I need to get back to Deon Meyer! I love the cover for The Birdcage!

You have done very well, Cathy. I am terrible sticking to TBR lists. I try, I really do, but I am too much of a mood reader.

Cathy, I’m forever making (and revising) TBR lists. For the most part I stick to them, though I’ve been know to create TBR lists that are overly ambitious. LOL

I haven’t read any of these, but The Birdcage and Still Life look interesting.

The Birdcage sounds really good.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

I’m impressed by how many you’ve read as well! I enjoyed THE BIRDCAGE and PEACH BLOSSOM SPRING is one I bought and just haven’t gotten to yet. One of these days, I hope.
Happy TTT!

Oh my – ALL these covers make the books look interesting – I’m just going to have to take a few minutes and check them out. I recently read Open Water – it was just ok for me. I have Still Life on my TBR, the rest are intriguing. I do keep an extensive TBR, but since regularly participating in TTT, it has exploded. So many books, so little time. I chip away at the list all the time, but still the shiny new book catches my eye! It’s a problem. 🙂 Terrie

I want to read Still Life. I wanted to read more of my own books this year, but keep getting distracted by Blog Tours!
Have a great week!

I can definitely identify with that. It’s mainly why I’m cutting back on blog tours so I can tackle all those books sitting on my bookshelves or on my Kindle.

I have no idea how many I have on my Kindle! An obscene amount no doubt! August is my first month of starting to cut down. I have 2 in August and 2 in September.

Wow you did really well on these! I used to be fairly good at sticking to TBRs but over the past year or so, I’ve definitely gone on a lot of wandering and reading books that aren’t necessarily on my list!

A reading schedule works for me because I hate the thought I might miss a blog tour slot or review date I’ve committed to. If a book’s on my list it’s pretty likely to get read.

That is totally fair enough!

I found The Magician rather slow and dry. It’s a fascinating life history but just needed a little more ‘sparkle’. There’s a review on my blog if that helps. My TTT post is here: https://wordywitterings.com/2022/07/26/ttt-books-that-have-been-lingering-on-my-tbr-pile-for-far-too-long/

Me too, and I can’t count how many times I’ve said that 😁

My TBR tend to be successful, mainly because I load them with ARCs. Maybe that’s cheating a little, but it works for me and helps keep me accountable.

Not cheating at all! I’m pretty good at sticking to a reading schedule and I’m always conscious of the privilege of being given an ARC.
